How Loomian Legacy’s Main Mechanics Work
A Water-type attack gets stronger in Heavy Rainfall, but Hydrate turns that same hit into an Energy refill. This Loomian Legacy mechanics guide connects abilities, weather, rallying, mastery, and hunting so you can plan around interactions like that. Understanding them helps you choose your team, prepare evolutions, and get more useful work out of timed boosts.
Start with your Loomian’s ability and the current weather. Both can change what happens when a move lands, how much Energy it costs, or whether an attack works at all.
Read the ability before choosing moves
Abilities affect battles and, in some cases, wild encounters or experience gains. These examples show why the ability deserves as much attention as the move itself:
- Expertise: Reduces move Energy costs by 25%.
- Heavy Fists: Increases punching and slapping move damage by 50%, but raises their Energy costs by 10%.
- Brute Force: Increases attack damage by 30% while removing secondary effects.
- Hover: Grants immunity to Earth-type attacks and grounded entry hazards.
- Hydrate: Grants immunity to Water-type attacks and restores some Energy when one hits.
- Clutch: Prevents a knockout from a single attack while the Loomian is at full Health.
Build around the actual effect. With Brute Force, choose attacks for their damage rather than relying on the secondary effect it removes. Against Clutch, account for the full-Health requirement before expecting one attack to finish the target.
Abilities can also change through evolution. A Phancub with Adorable evolves into an Ursoul with Terrifying, so check the evolved Loomian’s ability before carrying over your battle plan.

Secret Abilities and How to Hunt Them
Most species have one or two Regular Ability options and a Secret Ability option. Exceptions include Boonary, Cosmeleon, and Soul Burst Loomians, which have no Secret Ability.

A Secret Ability Loomian has a purple sigma symbol on its summary page and a purple marker in the trading interface. Inspect those indicators when evaluating a catch or trade.
The acquisition method makes a substantial difference:
| Acquisition method | Without Ability Charm | With Ability Charm |
|---|---|---|
| Wild encounter | 1/512 | 1/256 |
| Rallying | 1/256 | 1/128 |
| Rallying with a Secret Ability Rally Leader | 1/64 | 1/32 |
| Petrolith revival | 1/256 | 1/64 |
| Species acting strangely during weather | 1/128 | 1/32 |
For a rallyable target, use a Secret Ability Rally Leader when you have one. That changes the listed chance from 1/256 to 1/64 without the Ability Charm.
Weather offers another targeted opportunity. When the forecast identifies a species as acting strangely, encounters with that species during the weather have:
- At least three randomly selected stats with maximum Unique Points.
- A pure positive Personality.
- The improved Secret Ability chances shown above.
Check which species is acting strangely before starting a hunt. Those encounters combine several useful traits in the same catch.
Harmonize also matters when collecting specific Personalities: wild Loomians share the possessor’s Personality when it occupies the first party slot. Put your Harmonize Loomian there before beginning a Personality hunt.
Weather Effects, Encounters, and Evolutions
Open LoomiWatch → Navigate → Weather to view the forecast. It extends four hours ahead, displays times in your local time zone, and follows the same schedule across servers.

Weather changes every real-world hour. Plan around the forecast instead of switching servers to look for a different weather schedule.
Each of the five regular adverse weather conditions has an associated wild Loomian with a 1/64 encounter chance in affected areas.
| Weather | Associated Loomian | Battle effects |
|---|---|---|
| Heavy Rainfall | Hydrini | Water moves deal 30% more damage; Fire moves deal 30% less; Plant types recover 1/16 of maximum Health each turn |
| Strong Gusts | Pipsee | Air types gain 25% Speed; Toxic attacks deal 25% more damage; trapping moves and abilities stop preventing switches |
| Dense Fog | Wispur | Two-turn moves skip their charging turn; Spirit types ignore opposing abilities in qualifying matchups |
| Smoldering Heat | Smoal | Fire moves deal 30% more damage; Water moves deal 30% less; Bug types’ moves cost 10% less Energy |
| Severe Thunderstorm | Nymvolt | Electric moves deal 25% more damage and cost 25% less Energy; Air types become grounded; sleep is prevented |
Dense Fog’s ability interaction has an important exception: Spirit-type Loomians ignore the abilities of non-Spirit opponents when attacking or being attacked, except against Light-type Loomians. Do not apply that effect to every matchup.
During Severe Thunderstorm, grounded Air-type Loomians can be hit by Earth-type attacks for neutral damage. Sleeping Loomians also wake immediately upon entering the field.
Weather can amplify abilities further. Hotfoot doubles Speed during Smoldering Heat, while Gloomy increases damage by 30% during Dense Fog. Check both the field condition and the ability when a matchup behaves differently than expected.
Prepare weather evolutions ahead of time
The following evolutions require a level-up in the appropriate adverse weather:
- Bezeldew → Deludrix: Heavy Rainfall, at level 37 or above.
- Dandylil → Whippledriff: Strong Gusts, at level 37 or above.
- Vari → Zepholen: Strong Gusts.
- Lampurge → Charonyx: Dense Fog, at level 37 or above.
- Charkiln → Billoforge: Smoldering Heat, at level 37 or above.
- Ohmbolt → Plasmoth: Severe Thunderstorm, at level 37 or above.
Bring the eligible Loomian to an affected area before earning the level-up. Use the forecast to schedule several compatible evolutions during the same weather window.
Ordinary overworld weather does not affect sheltered locations such as Igneus Hollow, POLUT Campus, or Aranatta Trench. Shared loading zones can extend weather effects into connected areas: Strong Gusts in Sepharite Junkyard also allow Pipsee encounters on Route 7.
Meteor Showers and Egg Rain belong to limited events. Keep those separate from the regular adverse-weather schedule when planning your collection.
Rallying and Mastery: Combine Your Objectives
Rallying contributes to more than collecting extra Loomians. Mastery objectives can require rallying specific quantities, including 10 or 50, while other tasks ask you to earn experience.

Set up a rally objective, then work on another Loomian’s mastery tasks while rallying continues. This lets you advance separate goals during the same session.
For an experience objective, bring multiple matching Loomians in your party so their earned experience contributes toward the same target. Use rallied duplicates for this when appropriate instead of training only one eligible Loomian.
Check the actual mastery task before arranging the party. A rally requirement and an experience requirement need different preparation.
Use Carol for experience sessions
Carol provides a specific experience bonus: when its possessor is alive and in the first party slot before battle, every Loomian in the party gains 10% more battle experience, including the possessor and benched Loomians.
Place the Carol Loomian correctly before starting repeated battles. The ability’s party-wide effect makes that position useful when working on several experience objectives together.
Mastery level rewards can also provide Boost Tokens. Collect those rewards before spending Robux on additional boosts.
Loomiboosts and Code Redemption
Loomiboosts serve different goals, including Gleaming hunting, Roaming and Corrupt encounters, experience gain, Training Points, and rally rate.
Match the boost to the activity you are about to perform:
- Activate an experience boost when you are ready to earn battle experience.
- Use a Training Points boost for a Training Points session.
- Use a rally-rate boost while working on rallying.
- Start an encounter boost after learning your hunting route.
The Gleaming boost provides a 16× chance multiplier for 15 minutes. That improves the chance; it does not guarantee a Gleaming within the timer. A dry session does not mean the boost failed.
Boost Tokens are available through map crates, mastery rewards, and purchases. The purchase option includes five for 100 Robux.
Redeem codes through the LoomiWatch
Open LoomiWatch → Store → Codes to enter a redemption code. Codes are not case-sensitive, each can be redeemed once, and expired codes no longer work.
Check expiration dates before spending time on an old code. For example, Anniversary2026 awarded 10 Boost Tokens and one Celebration Disc B, but has expired.
Use newly announced codes promptly, then plan the activity you want to boost before activating the reward.
Route 9: Field Capture and Overworld Hunting
The October 30, 2026, Route 9 update expands exploration and adds new collection systems.
| Addition | What it brings |
|---|---|
| Expanded story map | Continue exploring with Mabel, Lucas, Lucy, and Jake |
| New Loomians | More species to discover and collect |
| Field Capture | An additional way to encounter and collect Loomians |
| Expeditions | A new gameplay system |
For overworld hunting, organize your movement around the five-minute spawn refresh. Walking back and forth between areas does not force an immediate replacement.
Build a repeatable route through the encounter areas:
- Start at the Route 9 train station.
- Sweep the nearby encounters, then continue through the mines.
- Continue through the tree and spider areas toward Flurry Fields.
- Travel to Halfpine Village and check the woodland encounters.
- Follow the snowy path toward Glacial Lake.
- Return to the starting area for another pass after the refresh interval.
Learn the paths before activating a timed hunting boost. Wrong turns consume the same timer you need for checking encounters.
Overworld encounters can despawn when the spawns refresh. Approach a target you want when you find it instead of leaving it until the end of the loop. Keep your route focused on fresh spawns, and avoid repeatedly checking an area that has not reached its next refresh.
