Early Game: Learn Your Tools

Rare Loomians are tempting, but understanding your tools helps you make better use of every battle and boost. This Loomian Legacy beginner guide covers abilities, mastery, resources, and the new Route 9 features. Start by learning your menus before spending resources on a hunt.

1. Set Up Your Objective Display

Open Options and choose when objectives appear. Keep them visible while learning your way around, or select the setting that displays them whenever a new objective arrives.

Options also includes two useful troubleshooting tools:

• Reduce your graphics settings if the game becomes laggy.
• Use Get Unstuck if your character becomes trapped or ends up outside the map. It attempts to respawn you inside the playable area.

2. Match Your Decisions to Your Loomian’s Ability

Abilities can affect damage, Energy costs, immunities, and even activities outside battle. Read each Loomian’s summary instead of judging it only by its appearance or moves.

These examples show why the details matter:

• Awakening increases Attack Type Bonus from 25% to 50%. Favor attacks that benefit from that bonus.
• Expertise reduces move Energy costs by 25%. Account for that discount when comparing your attacking options.
• Hover grants immunity to Earth-type attacks and grounded entry hazards. Use that immunity when choosing a switch.
• Combustible grants immunity to Fire-type attacks and boosts the possessor’s Fire-type attacks by 50% when hit by one.

An ability can change through evolution. For example, a Phancub with Adorable evolves into an Ursoul with Terrifying. Read the evolved Loomian’s ability again before continuing to use the same battle plan.

3. Identify Secret Abilities Correctly

Secret Abilities have a purple sigma symbol on the summary page and a purple marker in the trading interface. Check those markers before trading for a Loomian advertised as having one.

Acquisition odds differ by method:

Use a Secret Ability Rally Leader when pursuing Secret Abilities through rallying. Check the actual ability’s effect before deciding whether it fits your plans.

Mastery: Combine Tasks Instead of Grinding Separately

4. Read the Requirements for Each Loomian

Mastery includes species-specific tasks, such as rallying or earning experience. Requirements differ: some rally tasks call for 10 Loomians, while others call for 50.

Check your current tasks before starting a session. Event Loomians also contribute to mastery, so include them when reviewing your collection.

5. Keep Rallying While Working on Other Objectives

Rally tasks can progress while you work on mastery requirements for other Loomians. Set up your rallying, then tackle another objective instead of waiting beside the ranch.

For experience-based tasks, bring multiple Loomians of the relevant species when possible. Experience earned across those party members can contribute toward the same species’ mastery requirement.

If a missing species is blocking your plans, ask politely at the Trade Resort whether someone has a spare. Inspect the offered Loomian before accepting a trade.

6. Collect Boost Tokens Through Play

Boost Tokens can come from crates around the map and mastery rewards, with purchase options also available. Check crates and mastery progress before buying additional boosts.

Loomiboosts serve different purposes, including:

• Increasing Gleaming encounter chances.
• Increasing Roaming and Corrupt encounter chances.
• Boosting experience or Training Points.
• Increasing rally rate.

Choose the boost that matches your current activity. Activate an experience boost when you are ready to train, or a hunting boost after learning your route.

7. Avoid Expecting Guaranteed Rare Encounters

Encounter boosts improve your chances; they do not guarantee a rare Loomian before the timer ends.

Prepare your route before activating one. Keep navigation and menu time outside the boosted session whenever possible.

Codes: Know Where to Redeem Rewards

8. Use the LoomiWatch Store

To redeem a code:

1. Open the Store app on your LoomiWatch.
2. Select the Codes tab.
3. Enter the code.

Codes are not case-sensitive, each can be redeemed once, and expired codes no longer work.

Skip expired rewards such as Anniversary2026. Follow Llama Train Studio’s announcements for new redemption opportunities rather than repeatedly entering old codes.

Route 9: Learn the Map Before Hunting

9. Explore the New Collecting Systems

The October 30 Route 9 update adds several reasons to explore:

• Continue the story with Mabel, Lucas, Lucy, and Jake across a large new map.
• Discover new Loomians.
• Use Field Capture, a new way to encounter and collect Loomians.
• Try the Expeditions system.

When you reach Route 9, learn its paths before spending a hunting boost. Use recognizable landmarks such as the Route 9 train station, the mines, Flurry Fields, and Glacial Lake to organize your exploration.

10. Time Your Overworld Hunting Loop

Route 9 overworld encounters refresh every five minutes. Repeatedly traveling back and forth does not immediately reset them.

Start your loop at the train station, move through the encounter areas you have learned, and include the paths accessible from Halfpine Village. Allow the refresh interval to pass before expecting another set of encounters.

Stop to catch a Loomian you want when you find it: overworld encounters can despawn during the refresh.
