What Should You Do After the Fourth Gym?
If “Loomian Legacy what to do after 4th gym” has you stuck, start by displaying your current story objective. The October 30 Route 9 update adds more story, a large new map, and new Loomians to collect. Follow your current task before switching to optional Mastery grinding or rare encounters.
Open Options and enable the objective display so you can see your next task. Use that instruction to resume your adventure; the fourth gym alone isn’t a reason to switch entirely to collecting.
Route 9 gives you several things to work toward:
| Route 9 addition | What’s included |
|---|---|
| Story continuation | More adventures with Mabel, Lucas, Lucy, and Jake |
| New map | A large area to explore |
| New Loomians | More species to discover and collect |
| Field Capture | A new way to encounter and collect Loomians |
| Expeditions | A new system introduced with the update |
Keep following the story when that is your priority. For collection or team-building sessions, focus on one of the activities below.

Explore Route 9 and Cycle Through Encounters
Once you can explore Route 9, build a repeatable hunting circuit instead of waiting beside a single group of overworld Loomians. Encounters refresh on a five-minute cycle, so moving between areas lets you inspect more spawns while that timer runs.

Use these landmarks to organize your loop:
- Start at the Route 9 train station. Check the nearby encounters, then continue through the mines.
- Explore the tree and spider areas. Continue toward Flurry Fields, checking the overworld Loomians along the way.
- Visit the areas near Halfpine Village. Include the woodland path and Glacial Lake before returning to your starting point.
If you finish before the next refresh, spend the remaining time catching something you need or doing grass encounters. Repeatedly leaving and reentering an area does not bypass the five-minute refresh.
Catch unfamiliar species while exploring rather than turning every lap into a search for a roaming. That also gives you more Loomians to work with when you return to Mastery.
Build Mastery While Rallying and Training
Mastery gives your collection a purpose beyond filling storage. Individual Loomians have tasks such as gaining experience or rallying, and you can work on different objectives during the same session.

Start a rally task, then train other Loomians while it progresses. For example, a Loomian with a rally objective can stay part of your rallying plan while your party works toward experience requirements.
For experience-based tasks, bring multiple copies of the relevant Loomian when practical. Experience earned across those copies can contribute toward that Loomian’s Mastery objective, making rallied extras useful for more than trading.
Check your existing collection before choosing a task:
- Work on experience objectives during battle sessions.
- Keep rallying toward the displayed rally requirement.
- Include event Loomians when reviewing unfinished Mastery.
- Visit the Trade Resort if you want to ask other players for a species you’re missing.
Choose tasks that overlap with what you already intend to do, rather than changing activities after every battle.
Use Abilities and Boosts for a Specific Goal
Before spending Boost Tokens, decide whether you’re training, rallying, or hunting. Loomiboosts offer different effects, including increased experience, faster rallying, and improved chances of rare encounters. An encounter boost increases your chances; it does not guarantee a rare Loomian.

For experience sessions, check whether you have a Loomian with Carol. When its holder is alive and occupies the first party slot before a battle, your entire party—including benched Loomians—earns 10% more experience.
For Secret Ability hunting, inspect a caught Loomian’s summary for the purple sigma symbol. Secret Abilities can come from wild encounters, rallying, and Petrolith revival, so choose the activity that also advances your collection or Mastery goals.
Get familiar with your hunting route before activating a timed boost. Use the boosted session to check encounters rather than learn the paths between them.
