Thawmin Ranged Build: Expertise and Four Attacks
Thawmin packs serious ranged power, but its low Melee Defense makes careless switches costly. Start your Loomian Legacy Thawmin build with Expertise, Frost Beam, and Psycho Blast to combine ranged offense with reduced Energy costs. Add Thunderstrike and Muck Blast for more attacking types, then choose your attacks around the opponent’s matchup.
This Ice/Mind Loomian has 118 base Ranged Attack compared with just 49 base Melee Attack. Build around that difference: favor ranged attacks rather than trying to make Ice Hammer’s higher listed Strength carry a melee set.
Use this four-attack setup as a starting point:
| Move | Type | Strength | Accuracy | Base Energy Cost | How to Learn |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Frost Beam | Ice | 90 | 100% | 50 | Evolution |
| Psycho Blast | Mind | 90 | 100% | 50 | Rallying |
| Thunderstrike | Electric | 90 | 100% | 50 | Move Manual |
| Muck Blast | Toxic | 90 | 100% | 50 | Rallying |
Frost Beam and Psycho Blast receive Thawmin’s 25% Attack Type Bonus. Use those as your starting options when choosing an attack, then check whether Electric or Toxic offers a better type matchup.
All four moves have the same listed Strength, accuracy, and base Energy cost. Their types—and whether they receive Attack Type Bonus—give you the meaningful differences to weigh each turn.
Expertise reduces move Energy costs by 25%. Use that discount to support this attack-heavy moveset. The table lists the original costs, before the ability applies.
Move Alternatives and Older Sets
Before Psycho Blast is available, use a level-up Mind attack such as Flabbergast, which has 70 Strength, 100% accuracy, and a base Energy cost of 36. Thawmin learns it at level 29.
For a different moveset, consider replacing a coverage attack with a support move from Thawmin’s learnset:
- Peace of Mind: Learned at level 46 or through a Move Manual; costs 25 Energy.
- Icicle Trap: Learned at level 34; costs 45 Energy.
- Rejuvenate: Learned through a Move Manual; costs 72 Energy.
Keep older movesets out of your training plan. The April 25, 2025 change removed Luster Loot, Fade Away, Gamma Pulse, and Zip-Zap from Thawmin’s available learning methods and added Dissipate through rallying.

Expertise, Foresight, and Communication
Choose the ability around the moves you intend to use and the battle format.
Image: Roblox / Llama Train Studio
| Ability | Effect |
|---|---|
| Expertise | Reduces the user’s move Energy costs by 25%. |
| Foresight | Gives the user’s Mind-type moves +1 priority while its Health is at 100%. |
| Communication | Makes the user ignore moves performed by allies in Double Battles, including their damage. |
For the four-attack setup, use Expertise to reduce the cost of every move.
With Foresight, preserve full Health when planning a priority Psycho Blast. Its condition is exact: the priority applies at 100% Health. Frost Beam, Thunderstrike, and Muck Blast do not gain priority from this ability because they are not Mind-type moves.
Foresight is Thawmin’s Secret Ability. Look for the purple Secret Ability symbol on its summary page when selecting one for this variant.
In Double Battles, choose Communication when your plan depends on Thawmin ignoring its partner’s moves. Account for the whole effect: Communication ignores allied moves, including damage, rather than simply granting a general defensive bonus.
Base Stats and Defensive Matchups
Thawmin’s stat spread favors ranged offense and gives it more Ranged Defense than Melee Defense.
Image: Roblox / Llama Train Studio
| Stat | Base Value |
|---|---|
| Health | 77 |
| Energy | 92 |
| Melee Attack | 49 |
| Melee Defense | 58 |
| Ranged Attack | 118 |
| Ranged Defense | 92 |
| Speed | 99 |
Treat those numbers as base stats, not the final values displayed on your individual Thawmin.
Its Ice/Mind typing takes double damage from Fire, Dark, Bug, Metal, and Spirit attacks. It resists Light, Ice, Air, Mind, and Simple, taking half damage from those types. It has no type immunities or quadruple weaknesses.
Avoid exposing its 58 base Melee Defense to super-effective melee attacks. When choosing a switch, consider both the incoming move’s type and whether it targets Melee Defense or Ranged Defense.
For a Foresight set, also weigh whether switching into damage will cost you full Health. A resisted hit still matters when your next turn depends on the ability’s priority condition.
How to Get Thawmin and Prepare Its Moves
Thawmin evolves from Halloween Kabunga when traded for a Holiday Craytal. Use those specific forms when arranging the exchange.

After evolution, prepare the ranged set through its separate learning methods:
- Equip Frost Beam, its evolution move.
- Obtain Psycho Blast and Muck Blast through rallying.
- Teach Thunderstrike through its Move Manual.
- Check the ability on the summary page before committing to an Expertise or Foresight moveset.
Level-up moves can be reassigned freely through the Battle tab in the Loomians app. Use that menu to adjust Thawmin’s learned level-up attacks as you prepare its final move slots.
