What Does Personality Do in Loomian Legacy?
The right Loomian Legacy personality boosts the stats your build needs while putting its penalty somewhere less costly. Those differences matter when you’re trying to move first, hit harder, or survive another attack. Choose your moves and battle role before committing to a personality.
Personality traits modify individual stats. A standard positive trait raises its associated stat by 10%, while a standard negative trait lowers it by 10%. A trait with Very in its name increases that effect to 20% in the same direction.
| Stat affected | Positive trait (+10%) | Negative trait (−10%) |
|---|---|---|
| Energy | Hyper | Dull |
| Melee Attack | Brawny | Frail |
| Melee Defense | Robust | Tender |
| Ranged Attack | Smart | Clumsy |
| Ranged Defense | Clever | Foolish |
| Speed | Nimble | Sluggish |
For example, Smart, Nimble, Very Frail raises Ranged Attack and Speed by 10% each while lowering Melee Attack by 20%. That trade fits a ranged attacking plan much more comfortably than a melee one.
Health has no corresponding personality trait in this table. Use Robust or Clever when you want to improve the relevant defensive stat.

How to Choose Traits for Your Build
Start with the attacks you intend to use. Melee moves draw on Melee Attack, while ranged moves draw on Ranged Attack. Match your positive trait to that attacking category, then consider Speed, defenses, and Energy.

- For a melee attacker: Choose Brawny to increase Melee Attack. Consider Clumsy as a penalty if the moveset does not use ranged attacks.
- For a ranged attacker: Choose Smart to increase Ranged Attack. Consider Frail if the moveset does not use melee attacks.
- For a faster build: Use Nimble when the extra Speed helps against the opponents you want to outspeed.
- For a defensive build: Choose Robust for Melee Defense or Clever for Ranged Defense, depending on the attacks you need to withstand.
- For an Energy-focused plan: Compare Hyper’s Energy increase with the costs of your chosen moves.
Avoid automatically lowering Speed just because a species is slow. Compare the resulting stat with the opponents you expect to face; moving before another slow Loomian can still matter.
Account for Soul Burst Forms
Florant shows why the intended form matters. Its normal form has 82 Ranged Attack and 55 Melee Attack, while Flychomp Florant has 123 Melee Attack and 55 Ranged Attack.
Choose traits around the form and moves you intend to rely on. A Very Frail penalty sacrifices the attacking stat that Flychomp Florant uses for its melee moves, even if that penalty looks convenient for a ranged normal-form build.
Likewise, avoid lowering either attacking stat without checking the whole moveset when planning a mixed attacker.
How to Get Personality Traits Through Rallying
At Rally Ranch, the Rally Leader determines which species you rally. Toys influence personality inheritance, while totems control the arrangement of positive and negative traits.

Use these toys to work toward your chosen personality:
| Rally toy | Personality effect |
|---|---|
| Bouncy Ball | Rallied Loomians share a positive trait with the Rally Leader |
| Puzzle Cube | Rallied Loomians share a positive trait with the Rally Assistant |
| Rubber Duck | Rallied Loomians share a personality trait with the leader or assistant |
| Yo-Yo | Rallied Loomians receive the Rally Leader’s exact personality |
For example, put a Loomian with Robust in the assistant slot and select Puzzle Cube when you want to introduce that positive trait. Sharing a trait does not mean copying the assistant’s entire personality, so inspect each result.
Choose the Right Totem
The two totems produce different tradeoffs:
- Smiling Totem: Two standard positive traits and one strong negative trait.
- Scowling Totem: One strong positive trait and two standard negative traits.
Smart, Nimble, Very Frail illustrates the Smiling Totem arrangement: two 10% boosts balanced by a 20% penalty.
Very Smart, Tender, Foolish illustrates the Scowling Totem arrangement: a 20% Ranged Attack boost balanced by 10% reductions to both defenses. Choose that arrangement only if you accept the defensive cost.
Build Your Rally Setup in Order
- Pick the species and intended battle role.
- Select the totem arrangement that matches your target personality.
- Use the leader, assistant, and an appropriate toy to work toward the traits.
- Once you obtain the desired personality, make that Loomian the Rally Leader.
- Switch to Yo-Yo to copy the leader’s personality, keeping the totem consistent with your target arrangement.
Check the next rallied Loomian after changing the setup. Verify its complete personality before spending time improving its other stats.
The Rally Charm expands capacity to 9 rallied Loomians and makes rallying 25% faster. It speeds up collection; toys and totems still determine your personality setup.
How Duskit’s Harmonize Helps With Wild Encounters
For personality hunting in wild encounters, place a Duskit with Harmonize in the first slot of your party. Wild Loomians share its personality.

Use a pure Nimble Duskit when you want that personality on your encounters. Check the lead Duskit’s full personality before starting a hunt, since Harmonize passes along its personality rather than selecting whichever trait your target would benefit from.
Harmonize and rallying serve different purposes: the former controls personality during wild encounters, while Rally Ranch lets you work toward a specific trait combination through its leader, assistant, toys, and totems.
Keep Personality Separate From UPs and TPs
Personality is only one part of a Loomian’s stats. Unique Points (UPs) differ between individuals and reach a maximum of 40 per stat. Training Points (TPs) come from training, with 500 total available to distribute.
At Rally Ranch, toys handle personality inheritance, while feed influences inherited UPs. Choose the personality first, copy it with Yo-Yo, and then refine your UP results through the feed setup.
For a ranged build with Very Frail, prioritize Ranged Attack over Melee Attack when evaluating UPs. Spend TPs around the same battle plan, accounting for the Speed, defenses, and Energy your moveset needs. A high UP total cannot remove a personality penalty on the stat your attacks depend on.
